WELCOME! to a New Mower for Culag Park

A few weeks ago, a public meeting was held by Assynt Community Association, to consider the problems caused by deer in Culag Park and the possibility of protecting it with a deer fence. It was agreed that efforts will be made by ACA to progress the deer fence project. At the meeting, a related, urgent request for help was raised.

Lochinver Football Club’s mower was out of action and the team had been forced, mid- season to resort to cutting the grass, for hours and hours each time, with small push-along mowers. This situation could not be sustained but there were still several matches to go, Assynt Games Day was approaching and Assynt Leisure also had a Mini Highland Games planned. Thanks to the generosity of Loch Duart Limited, Assynt Highland Games Committee, Assynt Angling Club, ACA + two anonymous donators, along with support from Councillor Hugh Morrison/Highland Council, a short burst of fundraising produced a fantastic result – the new mower was delivered last week, just in time for Assynt Games Day!

Highland Council has kindly agreed to provide safe storage space for the mower.

Pictured above are representatives from the Games Committee, Lochinver Primary School, Lochinver FC and Lochinver Junior FC who came to receive the mower and put it straight into action!

HUGE THANKS to everyone who contributed in any way to the acquisition of this great community resource.
